BSR Home > Youth Programs

We provide an environment where young people can learn to play Traditional Jazz and improvisation in front of a live audience. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and we provide educational opportunities to both youth and young adults. Every year, our club sends up to 10 young people to the Sacramento or Mammoth Lakes youth jazz camps. Our Club has also sponsored youth bands to participate in the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Youth Band Festival (TJYBF) for the last four years. Some of these youth bands have become award-winning, full-time musical groups, including the Red Skunk Jipzee Swing band featuring Molly Reeves and Justin Au, , and the BSR Hotshots. For older youth and adults, (21 and over), check out the website for the 2011 New Orleans Trad Jazz Camp will be held June 5-10, 2011. There is also an adult camp in San Diego in January.
