Sunday, May 31st – The Barrelhouse Wailers at the Pismo Vets Hall

The Barrelhouse Wailers will be playing “Hot Swingin’ Jazz” at the Basin Street Regulars’ Sunday afternoon Concert, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 31st. The show will take place at the Pismo Beach Vets Hall. The Opening Band will be The Raider Jazz Ensemble from Channel Islands High School. There will be a jam session starting at 11:00 a.m. Bring your instrument and join in. Admission is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers and $5.00 for jammers.

The Barrelhouse Wailers are an 8-piece powerhouse collective from Ventura, California, that seamlessly blends traditional style hot jazz and vintage blues with original compositions to create a sound that’s as timeless as it is electrifying. With their roots deeply embedded in the rich soil of American musical traditions, this dynamic ensemble has been captivating audiences since 2013 with their high-energy performances and masterful musicianship. Driven by their passion for authenticity and innovation, The Barrelhouse Wailers deliver a sonic experience that pays homage to the classics while pushing the boundaries of contemporary music. Their infectious energy and tight-knit chemistry on stage promises an afternoon of entertainment that will have you on your feet and moving to the rhythm.

Our Opening band, the newly formed Raider Jazz Ensemble from Channel Islands High School, brings a fresh, laid-back energy to their music. Comprised of talented student musicians passionate about jazz, this group focuses on bringing their interpretations of swing and Latin jazz to the community. Led by Loreto Teruel, Raider Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to exploring the rich tradition of improvisation while bringing a serious groove to the stage. Whether they are performing classic Count Basie tunes or modern arrangements, Raider Jazz Ensemble shows their love of music and delivers a vibrant performance every time!
