Basin Street Regulars Jazz Club
(The Central Coast Hot Swingin' Jazz Society)
If you enjoy traditional, classic jazz, the exciting Fats Waller-Louis Armstrong-Jack Teagarden-Benny Goodman Sextet kind that was the most popular
music up through the beginning of the Big Band swing era, then you are in luck. Pismo Beach is the home of the Basin Street Regulars, probably the
finest jazz club in the State! The Basin Street Regulars is non-profit a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. We are interested in the preservation
and promotion of traditional jazz, in providing a place where jazz musicians can play and providing young musicians the opportunity to play along
with older, more experienced musicians. To further this last interest, we provide scholarships to jazz music camps for promising young musicians.
We provide an environment where young people can learn to play Traditional Jazz and improvisation in front of a live audience. We are a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization, and we provide educational opportunities to both youth and young adults. Every year, our club sends between up to 10 young
people to the Sacramento or
Mammoth Lakes youth jazz camps.
The BSR has over 500 members and some 300 of them attend the club's live jazz sessions at the Pismo Beach Veteran's Memorial Building on the last Sundays of the month, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. We host a guest Jazz Band to come and perform for our members. The guest bands are often World Class and come from throughout the State, from San Diego to San Francisco. The guest band will play two sets, 1¼ hours each. In between, a local band will play a 45-minute set. Read more >
